Scripture does not treat anxiety as a failure of faith. It treats it as a weight — something to be handed over rather than hidden.
These passages are worth reading slowly, and worth reading in context. Several of them were written by people in genuine danger, not by people with untroubled lives.

“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
Context: Written from imprisonment. The instruction is paired with a practice — prayer and thanksgiving — rather than left as a command to simply stop worrying.
“casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.”
Context: The image is of transferring a load onto someone stronger. The reason given is relational: 'he cares for you'.
“Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? “Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?”
Context: Part of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus argues from observation — birds, flowers, the limits of worry itself.
“In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.”
Context: A short line that admits the multitude of anxious thoughts before it speaks of comfort.
“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Context: Spoken to a people facing exile. The reassurance is tied to presence, not to a promise that circumstances will change.
“Cast your burden on the LORD and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.”
Context: David writes this while betrayed by a friend, which is worth knowing before reading the verse as a general maxim.
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.”
Context: Jesus distinguishes the peace he gives from the kind the world offers — it is not the absence of trouble.
