The day’s verse is chosen by a fixed calculation from the calendar date, drawing on passages our editors have already reviewed. It is not selected for you personally and carries no message about your circumstances — it is simply a shared reading for the day, the way a lectionary works.
Because the calculation depends only on the date, the link to any past day always shows the verse that appeared on that day.
