Much of what we call stress is the pressure of too much to carry and too little time. Scripture addresses it with realism: rest is commanded, worry is questioned, and burdens are meant to be handed over.

The passages
“Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? “Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?”
Context: Part of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus argues from birds and lilies that anxiety adds nothing to a life.
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
Context: Written from custody. The alternative to anxiety here is not calm thinking but specific, thankful prayer.
“Cast your burden on the LORD and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.”
Context: The word is 'cast' — a deliberate throwing of weight onto someone else.
“He said to them, “Come away into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”
Context: Jesus tells exhausted disciples to come away and rest because they have not had time to eat.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Context: A proverb about the limits of your own analysis when you are at capacity.
“casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.”
Context: The reason given is care, not competence: he cares for you.
