Endurance is one of the New Testament's favourite words. It assumes difficulty is normal and asks what kind of person you become inside it.
The images are athletic and agricultural: races, harvests, training. Nothing here is instant.

The passages
“Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Context: The race is run with weights put down and eyes fixed — endurance is described as focus, not grit alone.
“Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.”
Context: Blessing is attached to the one who remains under trial, not the one who avoids it.
“Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up.”
Context: The harvest comes 'in due season', which is precisely the part we cannot schedule.
“Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Context: A chain: suffering to perseverance to character to hope. The order matters.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.”
Context: Written near the end of Paul's life, looking back rather than exhorting.
“Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, so that you may win. Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.”
Context: Training language borrowed from athletes competing for a perishable prize.
